So I'm running in the streets, shooting people all around
I'm just a killer rat, and I would like to cut some throats.
Blood red, red flash, heartbeats accelerate
I'm not dreaming, I feel da rain
Oooh hate. I want to kill someone

I think my essays were double marked, he double checked them after his TA marked them, at least that's how it went for cultural anthropology

Yeah, I've heard he's an easy marker...I don't think he's ever marked me though.

Really? I found that his classes were the best becuase they kinda evened out the scales a bit. His lectures would be the ones that didn't require alot of thought and the other classes were quite full on and all about the hard work. I don't know, I guess my attention span is pretty limited so it was easier for me that way. I must admit, I might be a bit biased because he always gave me high distinctions and distinctions for my work

Oh...see Donald was the one I always found irritating...because he'd do a really short lecture where he didn't tell us anything that wasn't covered by his slides, then make us sit through a video that had absolutely nothing to do with the lecture topic...I always found myself walking away from the lecture thinking "why didn't I just download the lecture notes?"

When we had our history of archaeology lecture in 1st year I think that there were about 10 of 400 students left in the lecture theatre by break time. Unfortunately for me, I was one of them, but I was sitting right infront of my tutor who was giving the lecture so I had to sit through it and pretend it was still interesting. The best classes that I had were with Donald, especially when I did forensics because he'd do a 10 minute talk from the powerpoint that he'd given us then he'd put on a video. I'd probably seen 90% of them in highschool so I didn't actually have to pay attention. And the ultimate assessment was 2 multiple choice exams, which he pretty much gave those that bothered to show up to our seminars the answers to. (sorry about the long comment, I kinda got carried away a bit there...)

Second, I have to repeat some first year subjects in second semester though. And yes, I agree, some of those two hours lectures were excruciating. It really depended on who was lecturing, most were ok, but there was one who would find only a quarter of his class left after the midway break...you probably know who I mean.

The "oh, that must be interesting" one always made me laugh. They wouldn't be saying that if they had to sit through 3 hour seminars about the history of archaeology at 9 in the morning after making a 2hour bus trip to get to your class on time.

They changed the way the course is structured at the start of last year, for the 3 years I was doing the course we didn't specialise, I kinda just floated around the different areas.

What year are you in?

Ha, yes, the Egyptologist cliche...the bit that gets me is the "oh, that must be interesting" in a "you're going on the dole" tone of voice. What specialisation were you doing?

I was intending on doing postgrad but after my second field school I just decided it wasn't something that'd hold my interest for another 3-4 years. That, and I got sick of people asking me about Egypt and what I'd dug up
